Sankofa CDC also leads two capital projects.
The Sankofa Wetland Park and Nature Trail in the Lower Ninth Ward is a 40-acre eco park project.
The Sankofa Fresh Stop Market is a fresh produce retail space with a teaching kitchen to provide a structured facility for healthy cooking classes.
JOB SUMMARY The Development and Communications Coordinator is responsible for all administrative aspects of development and communication activities.
This position reports to the Director of Development and coordinates with the Grants Manager and Marketing Manager for comprehensive development outcomes.
The Development and Communications Coordinator plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Development Dept of the organization and participates in fundraising activities including donor relations, marketing and communications, direct mail appeals, and special events.
Responsibilities Fund Development o Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
o Create monthly fundraising reports and dashboards.
o Send appropriate documentation to process credits to donors.
o Manage relationships on the database and communicate accordingly with various Board of Directors, Executive Director, and the Director of Fund Development) for Updates.
o Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor and grant files (on the database and server).
o Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
o Reconcile donations with the Finance Department monthly o Handle all administrative details associated with the Event, Advancement, Department and other meetings (i.
e.
prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, refreshments etc.
).
o Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and year-end appeal letters.
o Develop and implement the CHP membership program on the organization database and CRM.
Grants Management o Manage grant reporting deadlines and notify appropriate for report completion o Maintain/update grant calendar as needed Events and Volunteers o Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events o Collect and track volunteer hours o Organize quarterly volunteer events in collaboration with the Marketing and Events Manager o Prospect and procure raffle donations for the annual event Communications o Prepare media materials for distribution.

copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing) o Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings o Assist with Social Media Posts, collateral, and photography documentation coordination and implementation as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.
A minimum of three years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Database management experience Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to organize and prioritize work Ability to work independently with little supervision Excellent interpersonal skills A self-starter, data and deadline driven, and ability to multi-task with solid organizational and time-management skills Interest in homelessness and housing trends A sense of humor and a positive attitude Performance measures o Number of donations processed and acknowledged within 24 to 48 hours.
o Success in maintaining accuracy of database records.
o Accuracy and completion of fundraising reports and dashboards o Success in coordinating the production of direct mail appeals.
o Success in maintaining donor hard copy files.
