Business Development Associate

The School of Medicine Office of Research Business Development is designed to bridge the gap between private industry and venture capital technology development needs and School of Medicine and Primate Center research and commercialization expertise.
The Business Development Associate (BDA) will work to support the Chief Business Officer (CBO), as the CBO and Research Business development Office act as a single point of contact to identify potential opportunities for contracting with the private sector through industry-sponsored research service contracts, ventures and alliances providing research expertise, research management and research facilities.
Job requires some travel to support the CBO, approximately 10-20% of the time.
The Office of Research Business Development is a developing area reporting as a key component of the SOM Dean's office.
The BDA supports the CBO with all aspects of building new collaborations between researchers and industry partners, and managing relationships with key stakeholders to enable new projects.
They will have the ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of the SOM and Primate Center research capabilities and assist the CBO in matching them to understand industry needs in order to foster appropriate business relationships which leverage Tulane's strengths.
The BDA works at the direction of the CBO and in cooperation with all internal, pertinent offices such as in-house counsel, the University Office of Research, the Office of Technology Transfer, IRB, Office of Advancement, Communications and Marketing, etc.
Graduate Degree (Masters or PhD in Science, MD, DVM, JD or MBA) 0-3 years' experience in pharma/life sciences industry, academic technology transfer, corporate business development or equivalent industry experience.
Familiarity with Tulane research strengths.
Work in academic, non-profit or corporate scientific settings (University, Research Institute, Company, VC Firm, Foundation).
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
Recommended Skills Business Development Communication Coordinating Corporate Laws Pharmaceuticals Sciences Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
