Qualifications:
One year of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience.
Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the one year of required experience.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
A baccalaureate degree will substitute for all of the required experience.
NOTE:
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments.
Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Differs from Library Specialist 2 by the absence of experienced level duties.

Performs basic information verification tasks, using a variety of sources such as databases, indexes, catalogs, etc.
Performs exact-copy cataloging procedures to generate cataloging records.
Assists in processing order requests for library materials.
Searches library catalog for duplication of holdings and standard print/online sources for availability.
May prepare purchase orders.
Updates essential departmental records such as serials check-in, bindery, documents shelflist, circulation, etc.
Provides general library information and directional assistance to patrons.
Instructs patrons in the use of library systems and equipment.
Assists in the physical arrangement of materials such as shelving, shelf reading, and checking for accuracy of shelved materials.
May initiate claims for materials not received.
Copies bibliographic records from an external database to a local system.
Performs routine catalog maintenance tasks such as correcting errors, processing transfers/withdrawals, updating holdings, and processing added copies/volumes.
Inputs invoice data into automated acquisitions system.
Collects and compiles data to be used in statistical reports.
Monitors the physical processing of new materials.
May assist in the routine maintenance of audio-visual equipment, microform reader/printers, photocopiers, etc.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
