This is a short term, seasonal position.
April 15 - May 7, 2024 POSITION
Summary:
Assist the Grandstand Coordinator with development and implementation of plans for set-up, execution, management, and tear-down of exhibits in the Grandstand.
Essential Functions:
Prior to the event, assist the GS Coordinator in designing, building, and arranging exhibits, and presentation areas.
Assist the Grandstand Coordinator in constructing the display area for all exhibits in the Grandstand.
Order and place signage and d cor; assemble educational props and displays.
Facilitate the build, and installation of all exhibits.
Pick up materials and run errands on-site and off-site.
Prepare AM hospitality.
Circulate through the exhibit areas, primarily in 1 West, to maintain a safe and accessible environment.
This will include but not be limited to maintaining access to exits at all times, mopping the floors when they get wet, etc.
Work cooperatively with the GS Coordinator, Fair Grounds and L & R Security, and the NOPD to ensure the integrity of the exhibits.
Report any problems (with the facility, with security, with overcrowding, etc.
) to the Coordinator.
Be available to the Coordinator through radio contact at all times.
Notify the Coordinator of any unusual and/or important situations that may arise.
Implement any changes necessary between Week One and Week Two.
Following the event, assist the Coordinator and GS Event Installer with post-event breakdown, inventory, packing for storage, and cleanup throughout the building.
REQUIREMENTS:
Utilize the Absentee Request Form for accurate reporting of absenteeism.
Maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
Submit any intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival to the Festival Finance Office as required.
Attend and complete all required training sessions.
Submit Feedback Forms and Final Reports promptly.
Perform any additional work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Construction skills including ability to use light tools such as screw gun and staple gun.
Ability to take directions and responsibility for a project.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Festival/special event/art exhibit production experience preferred.
Crowd management experience.
Ability to lift, move, and carry large and heavy items.
Use of Google Workspace, MS Office Word & Excel computer software.
Familiarity with New Orleans culture and heritage.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
