Will litigate cases in court, including litigating procedural objections (pleadings, hearings and writs) conducting hearings on the location of evidence, the right to DNA testing and managing and conducting post-conviction evidentiary hearings. Draft formal case review memos; Prepare post-conviction relief applications, DNA testing applications and federal habeas applications. Defend or take writs from trial court rulings and litigating habeas corpus petitions in federal court. Negotiate with the State and other parties on the resolution of cases. Investigate applications for representation from prisoners in Louisiana. Know and understand the statutory and case law mechanisms for adducing evidence of innocence after conviction in court under Louisiana, Mississippi, and federal law. Provide guidance to investigation of cases, supervising direction and evidence gathering. Design, implement and conduct inmate counsel trainings at Angola. Additionally, since IPNO is a small non-profit office, all employees including the staff attorney, will assist, as needed, in all aspects of IPNOs work, including: fundraising (especially grant writing),communication and media, policy advocacy at the legislature and in amicus briefs and legal education, educational forums, including CLE and law school presentations and office administration. J.D. or equivalent, along with license to practice law in Louisiana and a minimum of 18 months experience required. Job Location: New Orleans, LA. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
