School Maintenance Technician


ASAP Employment Services is searching for an immediate hire capable of performing all duties as a School Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the school facilities.

Position
Responsibilities:

Duties
Maintains or supports overall cleanliness of school, including regular cleaning of grounds and bathrooms, policing hallways, and monitoring shared spaces as needed
Supports breakfast and lunch custodial needs as needed
Manage supplies and materials needed to complete site based projects in a timely manner
Responsible for the opening/closing of the building at the start/end of each school day, ensuring building safety
Respond to osTicket requests related to facility issues
Replace air filters and assist in making repairs to HVAC units.
Repair, move, assemble, install and set up furniture, bulletin boards, picture frames, table, chairs, etc.
Sand, prime and paint wood or metal.
Use electrical saws, sanders, drills grinders.
Maintain, adjust and repair door hardware and lock sets for interior and exterior doors
Perform plumbing repairs on commodes, urinals, flush valves, faucets, washers, packing and drain lines.
Perform electrical repairs to light ballasts, light switches, receptacles, fluorescent lamp lights, exit lights, shorts in wiring and replacement of light bulbs.
Assist in custodial work such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, stripping, sealing, waxing floors and vacuuming.

Assesses facilities for repairs needed and identifies hazards or risks on grounds or in building
Performs light repairs when needed
Proactively identifies safety concerns
Responds to maintenance needs in a timely manner
Organizes and keeps storage areas clean
Receives and checks in large deliveries of supplies and materials
Delivers packages and supplies to the appropriate place in the school
Assists with the setup and breakdown needs for school events
Provides support to the School Operations Manager in operational tasks as directed
Provides on-site direction for facilities subcontractors as required
Works with operations staff to problem solve potential issues before they arise
Effective communicator with the ability to use technology (i.e., email, spreadsheets, and documents) to explain and catalogue activities and work
Responsible for the reconciliation of purchases made for supplies and materials related to the school repairs

Education and
Experience:

High school diploma
Three or more years experience in general commercial or institutional maintenance work.
Knowledge of methods and materials used in school maintenance.
Knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical work
Skilled in using equipment and tools of the tradeHighly motivated by a clean and well-functioning learning environment
Takes initiative to solve problems and maintain a welcoming school building

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 60 lbs.)
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
Ability to work off ladders to a height of 30'.
Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours when necessary.
Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver License and ability to drive all school vehicles.

Salary $ 80,000-$ 85,000 Per Year

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
