Administrative Support Assistant (OA)

This position is located in the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Technology Services Division (TSD), Business Systems Branch (BSB), in Jefferson, LA. As the Administrative Support Assistant provides administrative assistance and advice to the Branch Chief and Section and Unit Chiefs on the organization, methods and procedures associated with administrative support systems. At the full performance level (GS-8) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Maintains documentation to support budget requests and expenditures. 2.Provides guidance to supervisors, technical and clerical employees on proper travel procedures. 3. Serves as timekeeper for BSB. Ensures all timesheets requiring signature are prepared and accurate. 4. Serves as purchasing representative to purchase office supplies; pay tuition fees for training and conferences; and prepare procurement requisitions for the Office of Technology Services Division, BSB assuring that object class codes and approving authority are correct. 5. Incumbent oversees the implementation of all training activity for the TSD/BSB Office. 6. Prepares written and/or electronic mail instructions, information notices, and requests for information to all Office of Technology Services Division, BSB personnel. BSEE determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify at the GS-08 grade level, you must have at least one FULL year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as
Experience:
consolidating and ensuring accuracy of budget data for an organization; maintaining information contained in databases/spreadsheets to ensure it is accurate and current; collaborating with others to complete assignments or projects; and using computer applications such as MS Access, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete assignments. TYPING REQUIREMENT ALL applicants must be a qualified typist, able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute with fewer than three errors. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
